Quantum physics can be a daunting subject, but Science Gallery Bengaluru's new exhibition, QUANTUM, aims to make it accessible and engaging. The exhibition uses art, design, games, and immersive installations to explore concepts like superposition, entanglement, tunnelling, and the observer effect. One of the key features is the playful introduction to Schrödinger's Cat, where visitors decide the cat's fate. This approach encourages curiosity rather than intimidation. The exhibition also includes installations like Fowl Actions at a Distance, which explores the perception of the earth's magnetic field by birds, and Quantum Jungle, where visitors interact with a web of springs and lights to visualize quantum superposition. The gallery also pays tribute to the pioneers of quantum science, including a dedicated section on the contributions of women in the field. Trained mediators are stationed throughout the exhibition to explain the exhibits and the science behind them in multiple languages, ensuring that visitors of all ages and backgrounds can engage with the ideas. The exhibition will run for a year and will be followed by an exhibit on Intelligence.
