Dubois, a Tokyo Olympian and WBC lightweight champion, has been calling for this fight for a while. She believes the timing is perfect, and with good reason. Harper, from Doncaster, has an impressive resume, having won world titles at three different weight classes. But here's where it gets controversial... Dubois is confident that her skills, abilities, and talent will give her the edge over Harper.
Dubois has been on a roll since turning pro. She dominated Maria Moneo in 2024, winning the WBC interim title, which was later upgraded to the full championship. She then defended her title against Jessica Camara, who managed to escape with a technical draw due to a clash of heads. Dubois continued her winning streak with impressive performances against Bo Mi Re Shin and Camilla Panatta.
Harper, on the other hand, has packed a lot of experience into her 20 professional bouts. She became a world champion at super-featherweight in 2020 and has since moved up in weight, winning the WBA super-welterweight title and drawing with boxing legend Cecilia Braekhus.
And this is the part most people miss... Harper's journey doesn't end there. She became a three-weight world champion by defeating Rhiannon Dixon for the WBO lightweight title.
Dubois is excited about the challenge, stating, "I think I have more to offer than she does. It's a huge opportunity, and I'm grateful for the faith MVP has shown in me."
But the stakes are even higher for Ellie Scotney, who will be fighting Mayelli Flores on the same bill. If Scotney wins, she will make history as Britain's youngest undisputed champion ever in the four-belt era.
Scotney is ready for the challenge, saying, "I know it's my toughest opponent yet, but I'm grateful for the opportunity and I'm going to give it my all."
